Old Car Seat, New Life wants to help you find the resources that you need for keeping your child safe. We are not certified child passenger safety technicians and our inclusion of the below-listed organizations is not meant as an endorsement. Rather, we hope to help you begin the process of finding the information that you need with regards to child passenger safety.
Overlake Medical Center – offers periodic car seat safety classes for expectant parents.
Safe Kids Eastside – part of Safe Kids Worldwide, offers car seat inspections on the Eastside through Evergreen Hospital.
Safe Kids Seattle – part of Safe Kids Worldwide, offers car seat inspections in Seattle through Harborview Medical Center.
Safe Kids South King County – part of Safe Kids Worldwide, offers car seat inspections in South King County through a partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital.
The Safety Restraint Coalition (also known as 800bucklup) – maintains a current list of certified car seat safety technicians, classes and events for all of Washington State.
Seattle Children’s Hospital – offers car seat inspection events at its Seattle Main Campus and satellite locations. Also offers periodic car seat installation and safety classes for expectant parents.
Swedish Hospital First Hill – offers car seat safety classes for expectant parents as well as low cost seats for clients.
Parents Central – resources for selecting child seats, installation techniques, ease of use ratings and more. Includes a car seat inspection locator. Published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Car Seat Lady – tips, tricks and thorough instructions for keeping your child passengers safe whether in your own vehicle, on a plane or in a taxi. Published by a team of actively practicing, certified car seat safety technicians including a pediatrician.
Safe Kids Worldwide – child passenger safety information including a database of 8,000 car seat inspection events and resources for locating car seat technicians.
SeatCheck.org – incudes a database for helping locate certified car seat safety technicians. A partnership between the NHSTA, Chrysler Motors, Graco, Toys R’Us and others.
